GoPro Unveils HERO12 Black Action Camera with Enhanced Specifications and Extended Runtime

In an imminent release, GoPro is gearing up to introduce its latest flagship action camera, the HERO12 Black, featuring a range of upgraded specifications and extended battery life. While the device maintains similarities with its predecessor, the HERO11 Black, several key enhancements promise to elevate the user experience.

Initial expectations centered around a 1-inch sensor for the HERO12 Black, but the camera will now sport a 1/1.9-inch sensor, as per recent revelations from WinFuture. This adjustment showcases GoPro’s commitment to refining its design choices. The camera will boast an impressive 27MP resolution for still images, accompanied by the capability to capture video in stunning 5.3K resolution at 60 frames per second (FPS). The HERO12 Black will also leverage HyperSmooth 6.0 technology to deliver improved video stabilization, a feature that’s pivotal for action-packed recording scenarios.

Retaining its dual-display configuration, the HERO12 Black will offer a primary 2.27 x 1.4-inch rear display. Although the edge-to-edge display concept won’t debut in this model, this configuration has proven effective in previous iterations.

However, the most notable advancement comes in the form of battery life. Equipped with a 1720mAh battery, users can now swap cells to extend their runtime. The included battery empowers users to record up to 70 minutes of footage in 5.3K resolution at 60FPS, a notable improvement over the HERO11 Black’s performance. When recording at 30FPS, the HERO12 Black offers an impressive 90 minutes of continuous recording, surpassing its predecessor by an additional 10 minutes.

For those seeking extended shooting sessions at lower resolutions, the HERO12 Black excels. At a resolution of 1080p and 30FPS, the camera boasts an astonishing recording duration of over 2.5 hours, a remarkable 150-minute increase compared to its predecessor at the same settings.

Weighing in at a mere 154 grams, the HERO12 Black delivers both portability and durability, being capable of functioning without external waterproof housing at depths of up to 10 meters.

Excitingly, the official release date for the HERO12 Black is slated for September 13. Priced at 449.99 euros or $489, this action camera offers enthusiasts a compelling blend of enhanced capabilities and extended battery life, making it an attractive option for capturing their thrilling escapades.
